How do you spend time with Jesus?

What are some of the things you do to spend time with Jesus?

Do you talk to him throughout the day?

Do you consider his side of the relationship?

Asking Jesus for things is not having a relationship with him. Imagine if you were married, and you never talked to your spouse. You just come home and handle your routine, eat dinner, watch your show, shower and go to bed playing on your phone until you fall asleep. When you finally do talk to your spouse you’re asking them for a favor or to do something for you. Like please bring me a drink, make my life easier and clean the house so I don’t have to, pay more of the bills so I’m not so stressed, etc.

Or what about if you never sacrificed anything for your spouse. You never had to give up something you loved that got in the way of your marriage. You just kept it around without considering how your spouse felt about it. (Video games, TV obsessions, Staying home instead of attending church faithfully, smoking, partying, etc).

Only going to places you want to go without considering what they enjoyed doing and not being supportive of what they represent and what they stand for. Like going to a football game instead of the ballet, or watching a movie instead of talking about a serious problem in the marriage.

Christians do these things to Jesus on a regular basis. Why do Christians do this to Jesus?

It’s because they never had a true relationship with Jesus.

They don’t spend time with him on a daily basis by reading the word, worshiping or praying.

They don’t sacrifice anything for Jesus like you would when Jesus wants you to fast, sacrificing food and inappropriate thinking. Or even time spent at the church can be a sacrifice you’re taking your time away from something else to free you up so you can go to church.

Praying daily, reading the word of God daily, fasting weekly, attending service faithfully, avoiding sin, living for Jesus through a life of worship and praise to Him - this is the way to ensure a strong relationship in the Lord.

People will know how strong your relationship with Jesus is by how you treat people. Do you show unconditional love and compassion to all you meet? Do you forgive those who have wronged you? Have you stay committed to Jesus and yourself?

These are the fruits of the Spirit:

Keep your relationship with Jesus closer to you than anything else and he will keep you.

Thank you Jesus for keeping me all of the days of my life.
