Make Prayer Your Priority
Why is it hard to make prayer a priority?
Prayer will be one of the hardest facets in your walk with God. I say this because I know so many people who struggle to make prayer a daily priority. Either they currently struggle with daily prayer or they have struggled with daily prayer in the past.
The reason prayer is difficult is because our flesh tells us we don't have time for it. Our busy schedules make it nearly impossible to set aside time to pray. Like every healthy relationship with anyone, communication is very important. Our prayers are our way to communicate with Jesus Himself. Without communicating in prayer to God, your relationship will suffer.
If you have a spouse, you two live together, eat together, and go everywhere together - but you don't talk to them on a daily basis. Let's say that you only talk to them for 5 minutes once every week. Let's be realistic, some of us pray less than this. If you only spoke to your spouse for 5 minutes every week your marriage is going to suffer. The origination of the love you two share will be long forgotten.
Jesus is like a spouse.
Without talking to you Jesus, your relationship hangs in the balance. He is always with us, looks forward to spending time with us, cares about our every want and need. Much like a spouse He wants us to seek Him in our every moment. He wants us to give Him the throne as King over our Lives. He wants us to observe Him as the loving God that He is. The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing because He wants us to stay in constant communion with Him every minute of the day, each and every day.
When you are baptized in Jesus Name, you become part of the body and the Bride of Christ. You marry Jesus. Since He is your creator, He knows you better than anyone because he formed and fashioned you. He tailor-made you custom and special with your talents, personality, and flaws. He knows what you're going to do before you do it because He is outside of time.
If you want a strong relationship with Jesus Christ, you will begin to make it a daily effort to set time aside for Jesus throughout your day. If you have to set a reminder on your phone to pray then do so. This is a good way to start if it is difficult for you to find the time. When the reminder pops up on your phone, stop what you're doing and pray for as long as you can.
I've had many people tell me they have difficulty praying in their walks with God. One of the reasons I've heard in the past is because they do not know what to pray for. When we don't feel like praying or don't have anything to say usually this is the time we should push through and pray anyways. The Lord sees your heart and He will bless you accordingly.
“Having a healthy and vibrant relationship with Jesus is so special. There’s nothing else like it. ”
Dear Brothers and Sisters, if you don't have anything to pray for and you become stuck as to what it is you can talk to the Lord about - please pray for me and my family. We can use all the prayers we can get.
I told this individual who did not know what to say to Jesus, I told them that they can follow a guide for their prayers until they get into a more personal relationship with God where their prayer life evolves. Coming soon: “Daily Prayer – A Guide to improve your prayer life”
In all seriousness, your prayer life links you directly to the spiritual realm. If you're not praying you will find yourself spiritually weakened. The more you pray the easier it is to stay Christ-minded. When you see someone in the world that is doing something sinful, you'll discuss it with the Lord as you're seeing it in front of you. You won't be judgmental but you'll long for the Lord to move in that situation in a positive way. You'll speak to Him about it.
Don't be surprised if He speaks back instructing you to lay hands in prayer on that individual. Once you start you daily prayer life, you'll begin to see miracles on a daily basis and you'll notice things transform in your life.
