Christian Enough
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”
People are going to be critical of you no matter what you decide to do. Some people will claim you’re not “Christian enough.” Some Christians will say you will go to hell if you get new tattoos, wear makeup, jewelry or if you don’t dress modest enough by their man-made standards - they are so worried about the outward appearance much like the Pharisees. Truth is I’ve lost a lot of followers after posting photos that show I started to wear leggings, or jewelry (including the gold cross my grandmother gave me for my first communion at 13 years old).
I went 6 years without wearing pants, jewelry, makeup (recently started wearing mascara & colored contacts). And what I learned after that is - God is not sending women to hell for these things. Now that I wear these things, I make sure that God is always first and he never comes before my outward appearance. That’s when it is wrong when someone’s vanity exceeds their desire for God. Like when you go to the gym, check your social media “likes,” or apply makeup to your face more than you pray or read the word of God. That’s when it becomes an idol.
Some of the women I know who wear all of the above or who cut their hair, have a very strong prophetic gift. How is it that I followed the “dress code” but couldn’t hear God the way the women, who didn’t follow man-made rules, did?
The answer is, that God looks at the heart, he sees the hours in prayer and their obedience. (1 Samuel 16:7)
If you follow the rules set by a church and you don’t wear makeup, jewelry, or pants etc - that’s between you and the Lord and I’m not here to say you’re doing things wrong at all. Just don’t expect everyone to have the same convictions.
As long as you and God have a strong relationship, please don’t allow anyone to make you feel that you’re unworthy as a Christian based on their own views. You are valuable to the kingdom of God and you can reach so many souls that are specifically assigned to you, souls that the other women can’t reach.
