Is there a right or wrong way to pray?
When it comes to prayer, there is a right or wrong way to pray.
As my blog “The Condition of Your Heart” outlines how the Jesus looks at the heart, we must be honest and transparent with the Lord in our prayers.
Diligent Christians are constantly checking themselves in the spirit to be sure they are right with God in their hearts. Prayers to the Lord must be of pure intentions that line up with his word.
Isaiah 59:2
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear.
The word in Isaiah tells us that a sinful prayer with sinful intentions, will not be heard by God. This is a clear indication that we must be of pure intentions. If you seek to have your own will imparted on someone else for your own lustful gain, you are praying a demonic prayer. Demonic prayer consists of having the wrong intentions and putting forth a prayer and in the spirit realm this means you are calling demons to surround yourself and the other individual.
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Any open doorway and the adversary can take root and grow. Open doorways such as sinful natures and sinful prayers or even sinful intentions. I urge you to seek out your own heart and search out the prayers you’ve prayed in your past or even your current prayers. Ask yourself what are your own intentions? When praying for others it is important that you have good intentions not intentions of control or manipulation. Be aware of your spiritual state.
James 4:3
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume [it] upon your lusts.
Praying to God about anything out of his will can bring about a spiritual attack upon you and those surrounding the situation. God hears every prayer and he is a righteous judge looking at the condition of our hearts on a constant basis.
Ephesians 6:11-12
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].
As a Christian you cannot even entertain the things of the world no matter how much your flesh wants what it wants. James 4:4 makes us aware that as Christians the things of the world are not for us for we are new creatures in Christ Jesus. Reading the part where it says “the enemy of God” I would hate to be an enemy of God so I put away the things of the world that resonated inside of me.
James 4:4
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
If you ever prayed the prayer “Lord I’ll go wherever you tell me to go and I’ll do whatever you tell me to do” the first thing he wants you to do is to stay in his word, the Bible. Meditate on his word day and night. God wants what is best for us, knowing that the creator of the universe cares should motivate you enough to care for yourself at all times. He loves you. Don’t get caught up with the things of the world. Put away your lustful affections and look to the Lord Jesus Christ to begin to elevate you and bless you in your purity.
God bless you all.
